Back to School and COVID-19: Essential Legal Issues

The COVID-19 pandemic upended the educational system and closed schools across the country. As schools prepare to reopen, many employees have concerns about their own—or a family member’s—health and safety. Similarly, schools are concerned about how to encourage teachers to return to work without violating their legal rights, and how to proactively keep schools safe while minimizing the potential liability if staff or students get sick.
