Careers

The key to Smith & Downey, and a prerequisite for all Smith & Downey professionals, is an intense value-for-fee orientation. Smith & Downey has developed a model for providing “Wall Street” level services at “Main Street” prices. This provides professional compensation opportunities at all levels that rival or exceed those of Smith & Downey’s competitors, while providing the professional with unlimited variety and challenge in his or her workday. All of this opportunity is provided in a very flexible environment.

To become part of the Smith & Downey team, an attorney must be a highly motivated, well-trained attorney with excellent writing, analytical, organizational, and legal research skills. The attorney must be a highly efficient self-starter with superior client relations skills. Excellent academic credentials are required. Attorneys meeting these requirements at the associate, of counsel, and partner levels are considered. The opening of offices in additional cities is considered, and opportunities are available for telecommuting and for professionals with unconventional scheduling desires.

Interested parties are encouraged to e-mail their resumes to bdowney@smithdowney.com.

Attorney Opening

Smith & Downey is seeking a mid-level associate (or more experienced) attorney to join its thriving employee benefits and executive compensation practice. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of experience across all employee benefits areas, and will want to support a high volume book of business that has constant interaction with valued clients. Ideally, the candidate will be available in, or open to relocating to, the Baltimore or New York markets (and/or be available in Washington, D.C. or Central Florida), but Smith & Downey prides itself in offering a flexible work-life arrangement and has a proven model with a remote workforce across the country.

Interested candidates should submit a resume to ameehan@smithdowney.com.
